Miniature console
The pleasure
of the object.
A small black console can carry a surprising amount of memory. The Japanese first-generation Mega Drive Mini W pairs that familiar shape with two six-button controllers, making shared play part of the arrangement from the beginning.
Give the console the same compositional care as a favorite book or a small piece of design. Its shape already has enough detail; it does not need a crowded stage of accessories to explain why you enjoy it.
What living with it
involves.
Keep HDMI and USB power connected beside the TV. The supplied Japanese six-button pads are wired. For a sofa setup without controller leads across the room, 8BitDo documents its M30 2.4G for Genesis Mini / Mega Drive Mini with the matching USB receiver; this is a separate purchase and has not been tested first-hand here.
The tradeoff
The decorative miniature tower can be enjoyable as a display choice, but it is not required for play. It changes the object’s presence and storage needs; do not include it in the base console’s footprint.
